"I have problems using anything that we look at as food or a food resource for a weapon in any way. I just have some fundamental ethical problems dealing with that because typically that hits you both ways. And as farmers, you're primary producers of real new product in the economy every year, and there seems to be a direct relationship to our economy's performance overall related to the value of what we produce…
     "If we're going to expend energy to transport products great distances, it needs to be a valuable product. And we're spending tons of energy to transport poor quality corn all over the world and it makes no sense to me. We should be trying to focus on developing ways to use those products here and adding value here and exporting more valuable products. It really seems to me is a better way to go."
