Question: "What did he do."
"Well, he dug holes for the, it was called the REA. And he dug the holes for the posts to fasten lines on. And, we were milking eight cows at one time. He'd get up and milk those cows, and then get back here in town to get with the guys to go out and start digging those holes for those posts."

Mildred Opitz grew up in Seward County, Nebraska. She and her husband Chris were married in 1929 and they had two children. She remembers farming with horses and has experienced all of the major innovations in agriculture that have happened since. And, as she says, she still enjoys dancing more than almost anything else in the world.
