"Yeah, water in the house, bathrooms in the house, a bathtub in the house or a shower – we didn't have that type of thing when I was young. We had a big old tub that we took a bath in once a week, or something like that."
Question: "And how did you get water to it?"
"We had carried it in, had a boiler thing we heated the water in on the stove, the cook stove. And we used that water. Everybody used the same water. [Laughs.] You didn't change water between baths."

Stanley Jensen grew up on an isolated farmstead in South Dakota. He says the farm was on a dirt road two miles from a gravel road and 15 miles from the nearest paved road. He graduated from high school and immediately signed up to serve in World War II. After the war, Stan took advantage of the GI Bill and earned a PhD degree from Iowa State in plant breeding. He completed a 40-year career with Pioneer Hi-Bred Seeds in York, Nebraska, and has several patents for new varieties of hybrid corn. He and his wife Margaret have three children.
