"My mother decided she was going to learn to drive the car. And there was another neighbor lady whose family had a new car. And so those two women decided they were going to drive the cars, which they did. I can remember mother went down and drove the car around and around in a circle in the pasture. One time she drove to a church meeting in town. I imagine her top speed was about 15 miles. And she about broke up the missionary meeting because the women were really much more interested in the car than they were in the meeting."
