"We were a big family, eight and hired men part of the time. So she gave me some dough and I could make bread. My baking pan was the top of a, of a baking powder, baking powder lid. Probably was about as big as the top of a cup. So I would make cinnamon rolls and I'd make biscuits and I'd bake them in my little baking pan."

Ruth Nettleton was born in Oregon in 1905. Her family moved back to their home in York County, Nebraska three months later. Ruth has seen first hand all of the changes that have happend in farming. When she graduated from high school she went to college and became a teacher for several years. Then she married a farmer, quit teaching and raised four girls.
